History, Aims & Objectives

ANEIMO was formed in 1978 on the initiative of the most significant companies in the market research sector. It was aimed at promoting the development of the market research and public opinion area, at incorporating rational criteria in the services provided by members of the association and at guaranteeing the application of internationally accepted ethical codes. One of the main objectives of ANEIMO is to represent member companies in relation to public and private institutions, professional associations, etc. in Spain as well as internationally.

Membership

At present 20 of the most prestigious research institutes in Spain are members of the association, accounting for about 60% of the total turnover of market research in the country.

A company wishing to join ANEIMO must be involved in working in market research and public opinion as its main business activity. It must have a minimum of seven full time employees of which at least two must have superior University qualifications. Furthermore it must agree to accept the ECIM (Market Research Quality Standard) developed by the Association, which is obligatory for all members, and commit itself to certification within two years for the Spanish Quality Standard Norm UNE 16001:2002

Applications for membership must be made to the Board who will approve or reject an application by majority vote.

Conferences, Courses & Activities

ANEIMO contributes and participates on a continuous basis to several industry seminars including events at Universities, the Marketing Club, etc. A new comprehensive plan for co-operation with AEDEMO (the Professional Association for individuals working in market research) is currently under discussion.

Codes & Standards

All members of ANEIMO conform to the ICC/ESOMAR International Code of Marketing and Social Research Practice and conform the ISO 9001 Standard, including the ECIM ( Quality Standard for Market Research. The ANEIMOs private standard)

In addition, agencies shown in red lettering also conform to the AENOR Market Research Quality Standards (UNE 161001). This standard will be mandatory for all members at the end of year 2005.
