History, Aims & Objectives

Founded in 1992, AMAI is and independent body of companies aimed to promote the progress of market, opinion and communication research, improve its quality and enhance the recognition of the industry as a committed sector for the development of our Country.

For more than a decade, AMAI has organized professional events devoted to different subjects of the wide thematic array of the research industry. In three times, AMAI has co-hosted the ESOMAR Latin American Congress. In a joint project with one of the most prestigious Mexican universities, AMAI has created the only post-graduate program in Mexico dedicated to market research.

In 1999, AMAI started an ambitious endeavor to create a self-regulation and quality control process. The ESIMM was written as the first normative cadre of professional practices for the research industry. Since 2003 compliance with ESIMM is a mandate for all members, being AMAI the only body of its type in the world that requires from its associates to be audited annually by an external entity.

AMAI publishes a quarterly. It also maintains one of the few Spanish speaking research portals in the Internet, with an average traffic of 40 thousand monthly visitors.

Other AMAI contributions include the 1992 Code of Ethics for market and opinion research in Mexico, as well as the creation of a socioeconomical index that has become the standard for both research and marketing, applied sociology and media analysis.
