EFAMRO is an international federation of market research agency associations within the European Union. It was formed in 1992 to bring together national associations of major countries in Western Europe representing research agencies responsible for between 60% and 70% of the total turnover in market research.

The national associations of the following countries are members of EFAMRO:

In each country membership of the national association is restricted to research agencies of recognised standing. Members subscribe to the highest standards in market research and all have undertaken to abide by the rules and conditions for the conduct of market research contained in the ICC/ESOMAR International Code of Marketing and Social Research Practice or other codes with adhere to the following basic principles as defined by Efamro members:

1 - To maintain a clear distinction against direct sales, direct marketing and any other selling activity carried out by/or on behalf of our clients
2 - To safeguard the scientific character of our activities based on the use we make of state-of-the-art applied social sciences methods and techniques (statistics, sociology, psychology, anthropology, etc.)
3 - To preserve the anonymous condition of the collaboration of respondents in our activities, with the exception of when it is necessary to declare identity for research purposes and with the explicit consent of the person involved
4 - When research service providers carry out other legitimate but “non-research” activities (like analytic CRM, some Mystery Shopping, etc… where research techniques may be eventually used and where individual data are transferred) such activities will not be presented to respondents as market, opinion and social research

The object of EFAMRO is to represent the common interests of members with regard to their mutual contacts and their external relations with client associations and other business groups; as well as national and international authorities, including national governments and international bodies such as the European Commission.

Clients working with EFAMRO associated agencies can be assured that any research project they commission will be completed efficiently and to the highest possible technical standards. In addition, the individual members of EFAMRO offer the full range of techniques and research skills required by clients commissioning international and multi-country studies either in Europe or further afield.

EFAMRO is incorporated in The Netherlands.
